blind fields

blind fields is based on overexposed photographs of alpine snowfields in which photographic information breaks down. The white zones are not reconstructed, corrected, or treated as hidden depth. They are visible, but not legible.

In this installation study, parts of these non-legible areas are physically removed from the image carrier. Photographic fragments detach from their original rectangular fields; wall, distance, and shadow take the place of the missing image surface. The work does not make the invisible visible. Instead, it builds the image in such a way that what cannot be read continues to produce effects: cuts, gaps, bodies, weights, and relations in space.
