Along Kastanienweg in Neuwerder, a sequence of flags marks a distributed image in public space.

Each flag combines a photographic fragment of its immediate surroundings with a coloured form.
The colour is extracted from the motif and overlaid in the exact contour of the object.

Image and colour do not illustrate each other.
They operate as separate layers held in relation.

The work unfolds as a sequence without a fixed point of reference.
It does not move towards a resolution, but remains within a continuous field of perception.

The title suggests direction, but does not provide one.

Fragments of a text by Gertrude Stein appear across the sequence.
Language enters as a parallel structure: rhythmic, self-generating, without stabilising the image.

Image and text do not resolve into each other.
They coexist without forming a unified system.

The work relates to SHIFT (2021), but shifts its logic into an open spatial structure.
Perception, language and abstraction are not aligned, but intersect.
